FALSE MORELS
Looking at the cap from the underside of the stem:
The false morel is on the right.
In a false morel the cap does not join the stem on, and the inside is not hollow.
False morels are toxic.
Take the extra minute to check for false morels as you pick your mushrooms.

But sometimes you may get a trickly lil bugger....
Is this a true morel....or a false?
This one almost made it into the fry pan,
but by cutting the morel in half, you can easily see...
this one MAY be a false morel.

WE ARE DEFINATELY NOT EXPERTS, but
WHEN IN DOUBT- THROW IT OUT!
Some morels possess more toxins than others.  Some may not immediately make you sick,
but when eating in large quantities or eating frequenty they may cause sickness or death.
Here are a few websites you may want to look at:

From left to right:
true black morel, true grey more, false morel
True morels are hollow inside and their cap meets the stem.
